What firewall software are you using?

Can you take a screen shot of your adapter's networking properties? Go to network and sharing center, if vista, then on the left hand side in the task area, click on manage network connections, right click on the adapter you are using, select properties. See screenshot example. It may be some security software that installed a protocol driver to attach itself to the tcp/ip stack, which could be causing the BSoD.

... and I only use Windows Firewall, with default settings.

If it helps, this sounds like my problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925922/en-us

What service pack is installed in the x64 machine? if you have sp2 you can try that hotfix if they have one for x64 architecture. Also try the SP3. I never had that problem with xp64, but my network cards were always realtek. You can also try unchecking tcp/ip 6 in those properties, it would only be a bandaid and not a solution, maybe even see if there is an updated driver on marvel's website. Go to their website, not the manufactures of your computer.
