issues downloading on news groups

So I have a docsis 3 modem and I have been running PERFECTLY before i decided to upgrade my 655's fw. silly me right? well i cant tell you what i was running previously but i downloaded the latest from d-links site and now ever since my newgroups downloads speeds have dropped from 3-7MB/s to a steady 400-600kb/s.
I have tried everything using different ports and server ip for newsgroup. I have DMZed my ip i have switch wan ports. QOS off. all traffic shaping off. what kills me is that sometimes through the router itll give me my usual regular amazing speed but most of the time NOT. As soon as i remove the router out of the equation i get my speeds no question asked ( yes direct connect to router not wireless). Any ideas please?

How did the troubleshooting with Furry go? I had a few ideas but Furry is the man so didn't want to say anything until he had a look.

Furry has seemingly solved my problems as far as i can currently tell. everything is working as it should. All things connecting to the router are now pon reserved IP's , boxees appear to be fine now too

ok sadly it has happened again. I went to go download a NZB and i was getting like 600-700KB/s max.. so wtf right?? so i switch wan ports on the router , then i get full speeds 6-7MB/s ? wtf is causing this

Are you downloading more than one file at a time or multiples?

20 bots 20 strings, as i allways have been , never been an issue until the latest update of FW and why the f would it change if i switch Wans?

Let us know how it runs with 5-10 and go from there. Also let us know how the new cabling works out. Is your PC running Gb or 100Mb NIC?
