DIR-825 and IIS7
« on: November 01, 2011, 06:39:36 AM »

I have setup a tunnel with Hurricane Electric, works OK. Now I'am trying to setup an IPv6 server with IIS7. I have my IPv6 address with GoDaddy. I can ping -6 ipv6.server.address locally but i cant load the test page. I have close my Windows firewall no success. My next move was to look toward my router; i had setup a Virtual Server, no success.
Any suggestions welcome.

Lets see if we can gather some info from you on your set up:

What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing.

A good test utility:

http://test-ipv6.com/

This should tell you where the trouble is, or at least get you close.

I tested my IPv6 and got 10/10 on both IPv4 and IPv6

Ok, this proves you are getting out. I assume that you are able to get to places like Facebook and Google on the IPV6 side? Usually a little slow, but my facebook time at home is 100% IPV6.

You can't load the test page for the server? The server is on a godaddy server or internal to your network?

Did you configure the router as an IPV6 tunnel endpoint or the internal client PC as the tunnel endpoint?

Been a decade since I messed with VPN, but I will try. Using my providers 6RD to my DIR-825 at home, the thing basically configured itself. The only problem I had was DNS, did NOT like the ones at Hurricane(ping times were CRAZY!) and my providers were unreachable, once I went to open DNS and rebooted, it has been plug and play on Win 7 boxes with the IPV6 stack installed. I changed the DNS again just because open DNS server was on the East coast.

Made some progress, now i can load my test page with my Go Daddy DNS URL. Cost me a phone call. Next step, load the test page from my other Computers on the network !

I think you will be OK, the DIR-825 handles IPV6 well,  just getting it configured is over most peoples experience level. IPV6 is brand new!

My experience with Godaddy, especially their E-mail servers, it usuall takes several phone calls.

If you need anything else, let us know.

Welcome to IPV6!
