DNS-323 - 2 working drives - connection issues with one
« on: November 07, 2011, 05:34:39 PM »

Hey all,

I've had my DNS-323 for almost a year now, everything's been nice and smooth. A few months back i added a second hard-drive and for the last few weeks i have been having connection issues with that drive specifically (it worked perfectly for the first few weeks).

Some info:

Firmware: 1.09 up-to-date

Hard-drives:
WD - 1.5tb green - WD15EADS - original drive works just fine
WD - 2.0tb green - WD20EARS - newer drive with connection issues

What's been happening is while copying / deleting or streaming files (media, documents, etc) the second drive will lose connection. The files aren't anything too large (100mb-1.2gb range). This has been happening on all platforms (mac / pc, desktop / laptop and ps3) all over wired connections.

I'm a bit of a technical novice when it comes to networks and such, so i haven't played with the box at all; everything is pretty much defaulted outside of permissions and such (no third party software or anything).

Any help would be much appreciated ^_^

-Nick

ps. as an additional troubleshooting note, the DNS fails when i attempt to refresh my UPnP AV server file listing. Not sure if the two problems are related.
