DIR-655 Connecting Problem
« on: August 31, 2007, 01:52:15 PM »

Dear all,

Recently, my spare computer can't go on to internet anymore, but still have local network access which is I can connect to my spare pc or can have access to 192.168.0.1 from my spare pc, but not for internet (surfing the website, msn..etc)

I did upgrade firmware to 1.05, ipconfig /release, /renew, /flushdns, reset to the factory setting from router. but none of them are working.

This is very wired, suddenly my spare pc got this problem, but my main pc (which is I am using now) works fine.

Both PC are running XP Pro, cable moden, cable lan connection. and I did not change any setting from xp.

anybody got any idea?

Thank you all the help.

What IP address information are you getting with your ipconfig command.

IP address =
Netmask =
Gateway =
Name Server =

Have you tried static IP information? Did you verify the route? Was there a route for 0.0.0.0?

What was the output of "route print"?

==========================

"Did you verify the route? Was there a route for 0.0.0.0?

What was the output of "route print"?"

I am sorry, I don't understand what do you mean here...

Thank you for your help,

From the same command prompt where you typed "ipconfig" type "route print" and copy the results into the forum so we can decipher them for you.

Also are you able to ping beyond the router by IP? run > cmd   #ping 4.2.2.2

If you can't ping by name (run > cmd #ping yahoo.com) what is the error message you get.

Also don't reset the router anymore. if one PC can already get on you shouldn't be gaining anything by reseting the router over and over again.
