Yes, setting the WAN port speed mode only limits the WAN port, not the LAN port speeds.

Okay, just got my Netgear N900 and setting it up was a breeze, at least if you know your way around the DIR-825. The router popped up at 70/10 Mbit right away, no need to force the WAN side to anything. On the WLAN side, the Ralink still connects at 65 Mbps, while the Broadcom connects at 104 Mbps, which is still odd, router is set to 217 Mbps for max.

What is the selling point for me tho; I just took a test torrent download, and it maxed out at 8.1 Mbps, whereas the DIR-825 totally froze around 3-4Mbps. If this is a weakness with the DIR-825 in general, or if it's mine that's fried I have no way of telling you.

Ok, I'm thinking there a possible incompatibility and or fault with the FW and the ISP modem and DLink. Sounds like you've tested every possibility with various FW versions with the 825. However I feel there is a probable issue with your WiFi adapter on your PC. The DLink will let it connect at the higher rate using a particular version of FW however even using the new NG router exhibits the same issue. I would try a different adapter, use a USB add-on or something you can plug in and get the faster connection speed.

Overall, The 825 will probably give you what your expecting with the ISP modem using the Beta FW 2.05EUB09 as I think this might resolve that and compatibility issue with the ISP modem...however again, your wireless adapter seems to be in contention here and should be tested out using a a different adapter.

I think you have a good idea by now on the whole situation.

Keep us posted and thanks for all the testing and information. I wish we were closer, i'd have you send me your router to test out. LOL

Thanks FurryNutz, I'll probably try to get an Intel Wireless Ultimate-N 6200 module for my laptop, I'll start checking out Ebay for some.
