I tried to update the firmware to 5.01NA.
After hitting upload, it just hung up for the next 30 minutes,
after which I canceled it.  Tried it again, same result.

and you did follow the FW update sticky process and unpack the .bin file from the .zip file?
And you were wired to the router too?

I didn't unpack the zip file.  Just tried to upload it.

Followed the procedure.
Unpacked the bin file.
Saved router config.bin
Reset to factory default.
Uploaded bin file......about 35-40 min later, nothing had happened.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer.

It shouldn't take more than 2 mins to update FW.
