constant IGMP traffic
« on: January 03, 2012, 09:35:41 AM »

Just this weekend, my DIR-655 has suddenly started blasting out continuous IGMPV2 Membership broadcasts, causing a flood of network traffic that's not normal and is interfering with other traffic. Rebooting everything in the system didn't fix it, turning off the other machines on the network (3 + NAS) didn't fix it, and I couldn't find anything in the configuration of the DIR-655 to stop it.  Any ideas on what's happening?

thanks!

You have security software installed on your PCs? Any virus or malware detected on PCs?

Did you disconnect ALL wired devices and turn off wireless radio to see if it stops? Add the devices back one by one?

Try a factory reset of the router?

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Is the Admin log in and wireless secured?

all machines have AV software (ESET), everything off and it still was constantly showing traffic. Cable modem disconnect no help. Factory reset fixed it. Seems normal now. Will re-post if it happens again.. thanks - Happy New Year..
