NAS turns on when computer turns on

every time computers that are connected to the same hub as the nas log on, the nas will also turn on! i have checked the startup processes and i dont see any program will access it.

Do you have mapped drives on the computers that are drives on the NAS?  If so there is your answer.

Odd, my drives are mapped but turning the PC on/off doesn't have any affect on the NAS.

Sorry Wiggs, I keep forgetting that not everyone has their computers set up to interrogate everything on the network when they start ;)   Ours even check the printers attached to the NAS are switched on and complain if they aren't, they also give a list of all storage found showing total space, used space and free space.

i have mapped drives but i didn't get this problem until i switched to a new hub.

In addition to mapped drives, there are many other things that Windows does that can cause access to the share on startup. "Recent Documents" is one such example.
