Cannot create folder with name "p2p" on DNS-325 network share
« on: January 12, 2012, 10:04:58 PM »

* I can NOT create a folder with name "p2p" when the DNS-325 is mapped as a network drive on Windows 7.

** I get a error dialog entitled "Item Not Found", with message "Could not find this item.  This is no longer located in R:\folder.  Verify the item's location and try again.

**

* I can NOT create a folder with name "p2p" when the DNS-325 is mapped via smb: on an iMac with Snow Leopard.
** mkdir p2p
*** mkdir: .: No such file or directory

* I CAN create a folder with name "p2p" when the DNS-325 is mapped via nfs: on an iMac with Snow Leopard.
** Even if this folder is created via an nfs mount, I cannot see this folder on a Windows 7 mapped network drive (Didn't test smb).
** I can however see this folder in the DNS-325 -> Share Center -> Applications -> Web File Server.

I believe the folder name p2p is reserved by the DNS-325 and is therefore not available to end users.

In some ways this is a relief to here.

If p2p is reserved, what are the other folder names that are reserved?  Is there any file names that are reserved?

Where can an end user find this type of in-depth information?

As far as I know Recycle Bin is the only additional reserved name. The DNS-325 creates/uses a p2p folder for downloads and a Recycle Bin folder for recovering deleted files.
