Dropping Wireless connection all of a sudden
« on: March 10, 2009, 07:03:34 PM »

I've had my DIR A1 for about a year and all of a sudden today the wireless keeps going out. I have to power cycle it for the network to come back up on both a laptop and my desktop. Any ideas why all of a sudden this is happening?

Wireless network environment. Anything changed in the last week or so? Perhaps cordless phones? New neighbors? Try selecting and locking down your wireless channel to something else. (e.g. 1, 6, 11)

The hardwire connection will still work. It drops the wireless completely. even the wireless light randomly goes off.

I have been experiencing this for some time on my 615 (b2) router.  Tried everything but the wireless does not work well.

One problem I was getting was that my Norton was forcing the wireless SSID to deauthenticate because it was not set to trust the SSID.  Once the SSID was placed into the Norton "trusted" list, wireless connections were slightly usuable.

After additional tests, it seems that my 615 "wireless" radio might be at fault since whenever the wireless in enabled, with my three Ethernet LAN devices connected, the wireless network reboots while the wired connections continued working.

Tech support just suggested changing the mtu down to 1492...so we'll see how that works
