Foprmat a standard drive.
« on: February 07, 2012, 03:57:36 AM »

Hi
How do I format a standard drive that has been in the system for some time?
I have two 2TB standard drives and I cannot figure out how to format an individual drive?
I have checked the FAQ, I must be missing something simple, Sorry!
Thank you

Hi,
I am a bit confused.  From what you describe, you have 2 drives currently formatted as standard or seperate drives, i.e., Volume_! and Volume_2?  Or do you have 2 drives currently formatted in some Raid Configuration?  In any case, I am assuming you have your data backed up somewhere else.  If you could clarify, please and thank you.

Hi
I have two drives as 'standard' drives, Vol 1 backs up to Vol 2.
I want to format just one of the drives (it is reporting the 'Free Space' incorrectly). I cannot see how to do this.
Thanks for the responce

Hi,
How about simply pulling out the disk you want to wipe out and after connecting it to a windows machine, jsut delete the volume in disk manager.  This will give you a bare disk and when you put it back in your 320, you should be able to reformat and set it as a new standard volume again.  The only thing is try double checking if you have the Recycle Bin enabled on the disk that appears to be short of free space.  You might also do a search here for "free space" as I know I have read some problems / errors being reported and maybe there is an easier answer for you in one of those posts.  I would look for a while because re-copying a lot of data could take a long, long time.  Anyway, good luck.
