Question on LAN privileges and jumbo frame question
« on: March 10, 2009, 11:32:37 PM »

Hi Guys,

I'm new here, just got my DNS 321 up and running today with a 1.5TB Seagate 'cuda. Works great so far. Just had a question, Ive searched the forums and didn't find anything. I'm at college, and there is a lot of people on my router, I don't want everyone to go in to my DNS321 (which is available in My Network Places etc). How do I restrict this? Is there a login/pw way to do this? That would be best.

Also, All the laptops are on wifi here (54gbps) and I'm getting like about 2 MB/s when transferring..Is this slow? So I was reading about the Jumbo Frame stuff and would that help? Should I turn that on? and if so what should the MTU be?

Thanks,
tone

EDIT- So I was messing with the "Network Access" and it was on default where everyone could go in and R/W. I changed it to the user I made for myself (for ftp, that was the only user I had created so far) and hit save etc. But before that I deleted the previous Network Access List (all user). anyways I went to Network Places, and tried clicking on it, it denied me saying Login Failure, bad username/pw blahblah. and now I cant even get it back to the ALL user, it makes me put in a user...
