Problem sending logs via Email using schedule
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:30:22 PM »

Hi !

DIR-615, HW rev. H1, FW v8.02

As the subject says... Sending logs using "On schedule" option doesn't work. I have my own personal email server I used to test this.
When the router time reaches the defined "Start time" nothing happens. I tried both time formats (12h, 24h).
The router does NOT initialize the process of sending the email. I see that in my server mail logs.
If sent manually from Status -> Logs -> Email now, it works. If sent using "On Log Full" option, also works.

Any advice ?

Does the router send the email when the logs are full on it's own with out a schedule?

Obviously, yes. How will you know when logs will be full to set up a schedule for this anyway ? :)

For email to be sent, you can check "On log full" (doesn't matter if you also check "On schedule" or not) or manually from Logs -> Email Now.

"On log full" have a strange functionality. When logs are full (11 pages) an email is sent.
The problem is: the router is sending one email for each subsequent event (after logs are full).
The result: Tens or hundreds of emails per day. Not so good for tracking events...

That's why I need to find a working solution to email on schedule.

Thanks.

Sounds like this is a defect with the FW. I would call the local DLink support office and talk to a level 2 tech support and explain to them the issue with this.

Thank you. I sent an email to the local D-Link support team with all my problems regarding DHCP and LAN setup issues, Email "on schedule" issue and the possibility to set CountryRegion to 1 as default.
