What are your plans for it?  If you tell us what you are planning on doing, the direction we send you will be much clearer.

USB devices I have are a printer, a storage device and a scanner. I would like to know how to do it with any one of those.

If you want to connect any ONE of those devices to the 655's USB port, you'll need to install and use the SharePort software on each PC that you wish to connect to the device thats connected to the USB port on the 655 router.

Thanks for your response.
I found a page in the manual where USB settings are described.  The above is true if I choose the "Network USB". There appears to be another way called "WCN Configuration" which does not seems to require any driver software, but I could not figure out how to go about it. Anyone help?

WCN = Windows Connect Now (Google that for precise information)

Thanks for the reference. It says that USB device is discoverable, so I plugged in a USB flash memory but I could not discover on the network. Anyone know exactly how to do it?

Need to use Shareport with DLink routers and devices connected to the USB port on the router.

I understand the Shareport driver need be installed on all PCs to share the USB device if "Network USB" method is chosen. I am wondering how to do "WCN Configuration" method which does not require any driver as is required for "Network USB" method.

Thats probably not supported for using the USB port in back of the router. Only Shareport is supported.

The WCN is for use when transfering the Network Settings from the Router to a compter that needs that neeeds its Network set up.  Its not for sharing over the Network.  You download the Router settings to the USB drive then plug it into a compter that needs its Network connection to the router set up.

Please see the following: It clearly states that there are two ways to do it.
It asks "Choose the type of USB device . . . ". What is the type if it is a printer? Same question if it is a storage device? And if it is "WCN Configuration", then what?

Ah, guess we should have asked what HW version you have. I don't believe this feature is in Rev B routers so why my response before.

If I remember correctly, you access WCN via Network Places. The router should appear there, and if you select properties it should have some additional options to select from. It's been a while since I used WCN. I did some printer testing and this was one of the ways to add a printer using WCN.

I would search the internet or MS site for WCN usage and configuration as this is there feature, not D-Links. D-Link is just providing a carrier to use it with the router and USB Port.

Please read what WCN is.  It is not for connecting an USB item to the port to be shared out.

It is for using the USB port to plug a Flash drive in to, then transfering the Router's Wireless Network settings to the drive.  You then take the drive to a Windows computer theat needs it Wireless network set up and the information from the flash drive does the settings for you.  It is ONLY for configuring the Network.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-is-Windows-Connect-Now

You choose Shaeport if the item is anything that is connected to the USB port that you want to share out.
