DSL-G624T LAN lights blink
« on: February 24, 2012, 08:31:46 AM »

Basically, whenever I plug in an ethernet cable into any of the four LAN ports, it only shows a blinking green light with the corresponding LAN indicator number. I have reset the router and tried again, but the problem's persisted. At first it just became really slow and it took a long while to even log-in to the router web interface. Then it becomes unresponsive and cannot be reached.

Is the lights supposed to blink or remain steady ON when connected?
Check cables, swap out to be sure. Cat6 is recommended.

No, the lights are supposed to remain steady, but blink rapidly when any data is transferred over the port. The blinking here is intermittent. It's not the cables as I've used two other routers with the same cables. I used the same ethernet cable that it came with.

I would try to swap cables and test to be sure.

Is this a new modem?

I'll try a different cable just to be sure. No, it's an old router. Got it in 2004/2005.

Any HW changes recently?

I upgraded the firmware on it to the latest UK release. But that was a while before this problem manifested (as far as I can remember).

And doing a factory reset doesn't help?
I wonder if you should reload FW code or go back to the previous version and see.  ???

Now it's working again! I connected it to a different PC with a new ethernet cable. And I had no issues. I connected it to my main PC with the old ethernet cable and it works. I'm at a loss!

It could be something loose on the inside perhaps?

I flashed the router with the EU rather than UK firmware. I loaded the EU image file with a UK config file and it works. I can even see the stats now! I'm going to keep it online for a few days and see what'll happen.

could be something loose however not sure. Might look at the ports and make sure nothing is seen out of the ordinary. I don't think it should be.

Keep us posted.
