FW v2.07NA - DO NOT USE!!!>FIXED
« on: February 29, 2012, 02:20:11 PM »

Firmware   2.07NA   2/29/2012
Revision Info:   ¤ Fixed: IPv6 status not display DNS address.
 ¤ Fixed: Multi save bug.
¤ Fixed: IPv6 Autodetect mode bug.

DIR-655 Rev B

Please follow the FW update sticky process to apply this:
FW Update Process

Note: IF your not using IPv6 currently, then there's probably no need to update.

***Recommend not using this version. Seems to break Shareport and a few other options and contains some bugs. Use your current version or the most stable recent version is 2.03NA

UPDATE: 8/6/2012
[07/2012] An early version of v2.07 broke SharePort, .bin file dated 1/2012 when it first released. If you were an early adopter of this upgrade, please re-download and apply this most recent version of v2.07 as it's a more later version .bin file dated 3/2010 and now fixes SharePort. This version is safe to use.

Also, WPS pin method is now disabled by default.

The only issue that I have noticed with the updated firmware is that the log is spammed with
"reading /etc/resolv.conf " entries every 2 seconds.

I tried the latest firmware version.  My SharePort stopped working; therefore, I went back to firmware version 2.00NA.  If SharePort had worked, I would have been o' so pleased.  SharePort just won't work on my DIR-655 with the latest Firmware.

Also, someone please explain to me what "Enable PPPoE pass through" means..?  I do use the router's PPPoE connected to my ActionTec DSL bridge.  I just don't know why I need the PPPoE passed through since I think that the router is handling it all.  I had noticed that "Enable PPPoE pass through" option has been removed from the latest firmware version.  Someone please explain what is meant by enable PPPoE pass through..?

Regards,

Mark.

I also tried the latest firmware and shareport stopped working. The USB light in the router does not turn on.  I went back to 2.00 and it works again

How did you apply the FW update? Review the FW update Sticky in this forum.
Did you have the USB device disconnected from the router while performing the update?
Did you power cycle the router, PC and USB device after the FW update?

I thought that I had tried everything when once the new firmware was installed.

I reinstalled the 2.00NA version and it all worked again.

Perhaps, I had done something wrong.. I don't know.

I'll give this a try on mine soon. I have v2.03 loaded on mine and the last time i had it hooked up, it was working.

I've been able to reproduce this on my Rev B router. V2.03 works, v2.07 does not. I'll contact DLink.

I'll advice people not to update to v2.07 until this gets addressed.

Thank you for contacting D-Link about the problem.

I really like the DIR-655 router because of its quality RF deck (wireless) and its firmware.

Ya, it's a solid router. Keep with what you have or don't go past v2.03. I'll keep you posted.

I just hope they always subject the latest firmware revisions to an overall quality test.

Last night I started to think that maybe a thorough firmware revision is in order since they'll probably want to keep this quality single-band router model in their product line up.  In other words, I believe in this product.

Regards from Mark.

FW effects other items so in this case, Shareport is effected and it also might need to be reviewed.

Yes, the firware needs to be reviewed (and corrected) very carefully before other persons start to question the overall integrity of the product.  The fact is that Shareport doesn't work with 2.07 and that shouldn't have happened.

I once worked as one of the programmers inside of a firmware engineering lab.

Hello!

I'm just wondering why the US versions and the EU versions are not syncing?
(I have read the release notes for 2.07b05US and 2.06b02EU.)

Why are there diff between the two?

Why is not the firmware updated on all D-Links Web and Ftp sites?
Only Germany has the latest EU one.

To me it's a sign of bad structure. If they don't have structure on the files for customers, how is the sourcecode for the firmware then?

For me 2.06b02 seems better. Have not had to restart it yet for three days.
It has only taken 1 1/2 year to fix that.
But I have not tried any speedtests.

Sorry for whining, but I have expected a little bit faster development of the FW.
