Sony Bravia Tv Skype Problem
« on: March 11, 2012, 03:06:56 AM »

Hello,
With my old router Netgear WGR614v7 i don't have problem connecting to Skype but with dir 655  it doesn't work anymore, it works rarely. I tried port forward of 37957 from internet sessions and also i rebooted my router but problem persists.
Also how to i disable that very annoying error page from the router with no internet connection. Thanks

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.

Some things to try:
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Hello,
Cable pppoe .
Tried this yesterday "Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall" and so far connects everytime.

It seems you are the only expert here, what about disabling the d-link error page? What about QRS on iPad2 not detecting my router?

Do you have UPnP enabled?  It will take care of any port forward settings so that you don't have to manually enter them.

Of course Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) supports peer-to-peer Plug and Play functionality for network devices.

Enable UPnP :       Enabled.

It seems the firewall settings must be to the minimum to avoid any random problem.

Let us know how EndPoint Independent works for you. Try other browsers to make sure they all work.

Only reason why you might see a Dlink error page is something that is trying to access a feature on the routers web page. You shouldn't see any Dlink error page if your accessing a web site, you should see a generic error page from the browser you are using.
