DIR 615 and wireless devices
« on: March 15, 2012, 10:14:16 AM »

I am a  newbie when it comes to hardware.  I bought this product  cause the kid at Walmart said it was a good one.  hmmm   i installed as per  setup wizard and after a few runs at it  got it up and running,  the problem being now is  my husband and myself cannot use our  wireless smartphones to surf the net  We did everything  it told us to do  even made up new SSID name  and  password   for phones  the phones just won't  get pass the scanning part  we are secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK    .   I can pick up any other  networks in the neightbourhood  and at my workplace just not  home. Now if someone can explain to me in plain English how to fix this router i would be  greatly appreciative.  like I say  I don't know too much about the lingo  you computer brains  speak but i would like to have things in order   its driving me nuts.  Thanks for all input

Need to log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1

What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try setting single mode G or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.

Lets try the reboot and see.
One thing you can test out is to turn off the Security on the WiFi temporarily and see if the phones will connect. wWill they connect then?

Make sure you are naming the default SSID name to something other than dlink as there maybe other dlink routers near by.
