Curious. Do you have everything checked to log?  That might give a hint as to why it keeps rebooting.   Of course, do this after you run with the wireless 'off' for a day or so.  It's never good to change too many things at once while troubleshooting.

everything was set to log by default (i think). i unchecked the "informational" box as it seemed to fill the logs with useless information :)
unfortunately, once the router reboots, if i go look at the log it will display some logs from the previous day and then all the logs since the reboot. so it actually doesn't show me anything right before the reboot :(

What frequency are you using on the router? 2.4Ghz? Any chance these Macs are 5Ghz supporting? I presume they might be. My 2008 Mac Book Pro is. I might switch the frequency to 5ghz and see. Use Single mode N, Bandwidth to Auto and security to AES only.

iStumbler looks to work ok. not pretty, but shows me nearby networks, security type, protocol, signal strength, channel, frequency, mac address, vendor, etc, etc, etc

closest network is 40% signal, 13% noise, channel 11, frequency 2462.

update on reboots: i've have ZERO reboots since this morning. going on >5 hours uptime so far with wireless turned off. i wouldn't call this conclusive evidence that the wireless is the problem, but it is leaning more towards that direction.

yea i'm sure the mac's are 5ghz capable. the only reason i hadn't done that before is older laptops that didn't support it. i think at this point i may be able to switch it all over to 5ghz and N only. i'll go the rest of my shift working with wifi off to see if i get any reboots, but so far it's been good. *cross fingers*

;) and any older LTs that don't support, theres always 5Ghz DWA-160 USB upgrade options too.  ;D

Keeps us posted.

quick update, sorry i would have updated yesterday but i went out of town on business. after switching to N only at 5ghz, there have been no reboots yet. uptime is 1 day 17+ hours so far. will continue to keep an eye on it.

only found one device that won't work with this configuration and that's my wife's droid x. not sure if it's the 5ghz band or N only that it doesn't support. i'm not too concerned about it though, we've still got unlimited data plans, and she doesn't use it that much anyway. my galaxy nexus has no problems with it :)

Good to hear. Ya, seems like the 2.4Ghz is the point of interest for your area. Just to many other WiFi around on that frequency and channels.

Most small devices like cell phones don't support 5Ghz. Yet.

Hope it works well for you. It should. Keep us posted.

Same in my area.  I had to re-think my network also.  I run 5GHz wireless for laptops, and everything else get plugged in via powerline ethernet. :)  My Fiance's Fire doesn't support 5GHz.  I turn my phone on whenever she wants to download a book/etc.

Update: going on almost 4 days of uptime now. I guess we'll call this "fixed" for now. It'd be nice to know why it started rebooting out of the blue, but oh well.  ;D

Good to hear man. Possibly the addition of new area and neighboring 2.4Ghz WiFi routers I'm betting.  :-\
