Any status on this? Just curious if you got it working. ???

No, I haven't had a chance to reload the firmware yet, but I will one of these days.  I used Chrome before; I'll try IE next time.

Link>Welcome!
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
Has a Factory Reset been performed?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?

What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.
Anyone but me still having the same problem? Firmware version 1.03 (europe). Any way to workaround without full reset?
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules.
WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed
Set Time and Time Zone under Tools/Time.

Cheers!

Wasn't there a issue on some routers when you were pressing Enter on the login screen it was actually inserting a carriage return into the password field? Have you tried clicking login with the mouse instead?

My router shipped with 1.01 and after a reboot the password was reset. I upgraded to 1.03 B08 (from USA site) and that fixed it. I also later upgraded to 1.03 B11 (Taiwan site - intl release) and it is still fixed.

However, restoring the config from a previous backup always resets the password to blank (even though the password is stored in the config file).

You need to reconfigure the router and re-save a new config file from the current version. The problem is probably propagated in the older config file.  :-\

I did save a new config. Restoring it resets the password.

I assumed this is done by design (?) since a user could save the config, then a few weeks later change the password, and then one day restore the config and the password would change back to the old one which perhaps they no longer remember. So by resetting the password at least they can get in again.

I believe the PW should remain as what was saved as thats been my experience with most of DLink routers. It's possible they could be now resetting the password back to blank after restoring as a safety measure. I would recommend that you phone contact DLink support and ask if this is the case or not.

I just got back my new router and I've noticed the following even with the newest f/w 1.03 b11. If I reboot the router the admin password seems to persist, but if I power off the router using the power button, wait a minute and power up again, the password is reset to blank!

(Note that after upgrading to 1.03 I selected "reset to factory defaults" before reconfiguring the router.)
