Recursively change permissions via AFP
« on: March 25, 2012, 12:40:27 PM »

It looks like the DNS-325 doesn't recursively change permissions when enabling AFP.

I had the option disabled and moved my content to the NAS, connecting to it using samba (SMB) as a guest. Last night, I enabled AFP, setup a new user account and enabled read/write permissions for both the user and the new group. Connected to the NAS just fine.

While the new content I create inherits the proper permissions (read/write across the board), the old content doesn't grant read/write to my user (which is lists as "(unknown)" for some reason). You can see it in the following screenshot. The permissions on the left are from a folder that already existed before enabling AFP (and the new user/group). The one on the right, are from a directory created after setting up the new account/protocol.

I can't for the life of me assign the proper permissions and am left with copying the old content over again, to inherit the new permission. But I'd rather not do this.

Is there something I'm missing, or is this just a limitation of the NAS or AFP?
