Sorry that the recovery didn't work. Can you tell me if you were able to get the Recovery Mode screen to display in the browser? Just curious if the 857 is supporting this.

Chrome maybe taking over the market however doesn't mean that Chrome is best use in certain things. Ya in a perfect world it would be nice if every browser worked for everything. It also might mean that this is a Chrome issue and not a router issue either. 

Keep us posted on when you get the next one. Hope it works well for you.

It failed. RMA'd. With Chrome overtaking IE in market share, it would be nice if Dlink could test with Chrome in the future. In the meantime, I'll use IE the next time I need to flash.

I'm finding Chrome to be having weird issues too.  None of which can I think of at this time.

I did the firmware update yesterday and didn't have any issues.  I also used Chrome with a wired connection.

I know the "warning" window that pops up.  I think I clicked "OK" without putting a check mark in the box or clicked "Cancel" and just went about the update.

The GUI will give you a 300 minute (or so) countdown when the update is in progress.  I think it then re-boots the router, but I didn't pay that much attention, to be honest, I had other things annoying me in our house (my 6 year old son).

On the performance, reliability side, I don't notice any difference between the two firmwares.

Man, that sucks that you couldn't get it to emergency flash.  I know the DIR-601 will do it.  I had to do that to get DD-WRT off of it and back to stock firmware.

Hi all, I was able to upgrade to the new firmware version...there were moments I did wonder what the router was doing...seemed to "go into space" for a bit but eventually recovered and everything is working fine.  -- What I mean by go into space...I got to an orange "Dlink page" which didn't really signal anything was happening...after a short time I was going to reset my router but it then completed a re-start on its own.  Good heads up on the Chrome issues...I believe I was using I.E.

No, I did not get the recovery screen. I could not get a response when I tried to point the browser to 192.168.0.1 (and yes, I did set my static IP to an address in the 192.168.0.x range).

This is what happened to me as well. However, unlike you after several minutes of nothing happening I figured it was not doing anything so I closed that Dlink tab and initiated the upload again. I guess there was already an upload in progress (but there were NO messages on the screen or in the browser status bar indicating that, which is why I initiated it again ... after I did that there *were* messages in the status bar showing an upload in progress, so I figured I was correct when I concluded the first upload never started, but based on the results that clearly wasn't the case).

Those of you who had weird issues with the firmware update.  Just out of curiosity, were you using a CAT5(e) or CAT6 cable?

I used a CAT5e.

Updated to F/W 1.01 successfully 

1) Downloaded the BIN to the Desktop...LAN machine using Win XP
2) Used Mozilla FireFox 12.0
3) Loaded F/W 1.01, took 238 seconds. Did not touch anything until I saw the router blue globe flashing     and the web browser said that it was successful.
4) Reaccessed the Router and saw that it was upgraded to 1.01 and original settings were intact and confirmed both wired and wireless was seeing the whole network...it was.
5) I personally noticed an improvement in the 5GHZ wireless. Gigabit ports worked even better
6) See's my 1TB USB 2.0 HDD and works well.
7) Using Cat 5e thru out the entire system.

Thus far 5 hrs after update it is working like 1.00, but even better!!!!!

Same experience as Lexist2112, upgraded without a hitch in 238 seconds, all settings intact. Firefox 13 beta.

Lets keep this thread alive and hope that others will find and join and will be able to install F/W 1.01 and we can all post improvements for the DLink Community. Hopefully the Dlink techies will be reading this thread so that they can tweak future F/W updates. Lets start a list, I'll go 1st.

1) Would like to have both the Auto and Manual option for the MTU.

SO i just updated my Rev A1 using v1.01 using IE9 on wired Windows 7x64. I didn't factory reset before the update as I wanted to see how the configuration held afterwards. Everything held and looks good.

I got 240 seconds after I sent the file. At -50 seconds the power light changed from blue to yellow and started blinking. At -15 seconds it changed back to blue and blinked a few times. I was able to log in and check the status. Up and running.

So this FW takes about 4 minutes to complete. I still recommend saving the config file first.

All is good.
