Anyone ever setup a dir 655 and connect it to a P660H-D1? The P660 is a ADSL2+ modem with a 4 port switch on the back side. I want to be able to connect the dir 655 so I can utilize the wireless piece.

I have the P660 connected now and I can get on the net fine when in routing mode. If I connect my dir 655 to a ethernet port on the back of the P660 I never get a wireless signal that allows me to connect.

Any ideas?

If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

I cannot bridge mine.  When I had the modem connected, on my DLink, under Status/WAN, it had the internal IP of the Cable Modem (192.168.1.). I changed it to 192.168.1.1.  So what you are saying is, in the DMZ option of my cable modem, I put 192.168.1.1, in there ?

What I had to do to mine was configure the P660H-D1 modem and select "routing" for the mode. Then configure the DIR 665 and I actually changed the IP address (which is not necessary) but I wanted to. Also disabled DHCP (per FurryNutz) on the DIR 665. Then I linked the two together by ethernet ports only. I tried to link from a ethernet port to the WAN on the DIR 665 but I was never able to get a connection. Once I chose the ethernet to ethernet I was on the net with anything connected to either the DIR 665 or the P660 ZyXel. Was also able to get a wireless connection with the DIR 655.

Thanks Recon...but I dont want to disable DHCP on the 655...I want it to dish out IP's.  These stupid freaking modems that have routing functionality really makes it hard...

In my case the the ADSL Modem has DHCP running so it's actually giving out the IP Address. If I had the DHCP running on my ADSL modem and my DLink 655 I would have a conflict because one would be trying to give an IP of 192.168.x.x and the other would be trying to give another 192.168.x.x and it would keep flipping back and forth. So, if you have DHCP running on both, you are going to have to shut the other down.

I have tried this both ways and it works...thought you would like to know.

You have 2 alternatives:
1- If you like DLink as router, configure Zyxel WAN as Bridge, Encap=RFC1483, connect Zyxel LAN to DLink WAN, configure DLink WAN as PPPoE.
2- If you like Zyxel as router, connect Zyxel LAN to DLink LAN (DLink WAN empty), be sure DLink LAN IP is different from Zyxel LAN IP, disable DLink DHCP, if you want DHCP Server user Zyxel DHCP.
