I rechecked the changelogs and cannot find a warning that static routing is disabled.
Static routing is a basic functionality and was enabled in past firmware versions.
If you run into problems often techies advise to install the latest firmware first.
If the latest firmware is irreversabble and disables static routing, and this renders the dir655 less or not usuable for you, D-Link is legally liable if they don't make a very clear warning.
So calling such an irreversable firmware upgrade moronic may be harsh but saying please didn't help in the past and will most likely not help in the future.
If D-Link is aware of this issue and stil brings out such firmware without any clear warning, they are knowingly stealing functionality from their customers property and that is criminal.
So I still stand behind my warning/appeal to D-Link's sales and marketing department.
You really keep amazing me with your point of views...
There has not yet been an irreversible firmware upgrade. If 1.30 is irreversible, you already know which functionality is there and which isn't.
Secondly, if you claim that Dlink is "liable" and "stealing customers property" you're really in the wrong universe.
- The firmware is not property of the client. It's Dlinks/Ubicom's
- A changelog has no legal status whatsoever. It's courtesy of the manufacturer to publish it.
- If your 'assumptions' are correct, Dlink could legitimately ask for an extra fee for extra functionality (like Shareport, Guest zone). This is correct since the firmware is legally still Dlink's/Ubicom's.
I don't know where you got your legal degree, but it must have been 'on sale'. Simply because your allegations are not true.
You've made your 'point' on the board. IMHO your perception of facts is really one big fantasy, but if believe in your fabrications : be happy.
Since there is no added value to continuation of this factual incorrect ranting I will ask the moderators to close down the thread.
And please refrain from ranting on the board. There is nothing to gain with these eruptions of uncontrolled anger. You might even be expelled....
