I purchased this in the hopes that it would work for what we want it to, but I don't know much about networking, so I need some help.

I have a team of developers working on a project, and all of us need access to the files, ability to update files, and keep our own files up to date with the files that are in the DNS-320.

Until now, we've been using Dropbox.com to store our files.  It has been working well, but we're quickly reaching the basic size limit, and I cannot expect everyone to pay $10 a month for a subscription for a bigger folder.  Thus why I got the DNS-320.

Are there any settings/applications/whatever, that would allow us to work like this?  Set up a folder that kept the newest file version as the master version, so that anybody who updates a file on their computer, it would immediately update/create the file on the DNS-320?  And then send that updated file on to the other users automatically?

Or must all of this be done manually?

You need source control system, something like SVN, TFS etc.

Is that compatible with these systems?  Or do we need a computer or server?

I was looking at the Tortoise SVN, but I was hoping that this device could be used instead to help save some room.

Guess that means a return trip for me today.  =(  I was hoping this would work.

Source control software needs a backing storage. This device with HDDs can provide the backing storage with backup if used with RAID mode.
