F/W Upgrade done w/o cable - Help!
« on: June 18, 2012, 05:58:50 PM »

I upgraded firmware v1.10 to V1.35NA. Router indicated firmware upgraded successfully then tried to re-connect to 192.168.0.1 which failed. I then noticed I neglected to connect the laptop to the router with an Ethernet cable. I've tried powering off then on, hitting the reset button for 10 secs but I cannot get a connection.

Is there a way to recover from this? Thanks.

Try this: Emergency Recovery Mode

Thanks for the reply. how does one do step 3? (From the Emergency Procedure...)

1  Store a copy of the router firmware (.BIN) on the HDD of a local PC
2  Connect an Ethernet cable between one of the LAN ports on the rear of the router and the network port on the local PC
3  Configure the PC with a static IP address other than 192.168.0.1 (e.g. 192.168.0.5)
  4 .....

You need to edit your Windows PC Network card property settings and ensure that the TCP/IP IPv4 properties are set to a static IP address under Obtain IP addressing. There are 2 options here, Obtain automatically or set a Static IP address, you only need the IP address I think. You can leave subnet and gateway blank or use default addresses.

If you get past all this and get FW to the router and it comes back to ready, go back in and set the network properties back to automatic on the PC when your done.
