I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support. The recovery mode should work. There maybe something in the files thats preventing the files from being accepted. I'll see if I can find out anything on my end...
I presume you didn't get a case number? I'll ask my contact at D-Link if there is anyway of getting the router recovered on your end. Ya, the update shouldn't brick it however even if it is, recovery mode should fix it. It's why it's put in routers. I'll see what I can do.
No, was not offered a case number (not sure if that's something I should've asked for...?). In any case, I very much appreciate your help--if there's a way to kick-start this thing back to accepting a file, I'm all ears...!! Please let me know anything you find....
