Problems with dlinkddns and their settings
« on: July 31, 2012, 04:14:08 PM »

Hello everyone!

First, start by thanking anyone who can help me with questions that I will explain here in this forum. Also I apologize for my english which is actually totally google translate, because unfortunately I do not speak English and understand very little!

My questions are as follows: I purchased a DNS-320 a few months ago and only now, less than a week I managed to get it to work. I'm doing raid-1 with 2 HD's 1TB WD green line. I had no problems in doing the basic installation of the same. I installed, I used and updated the firmware to version 2.02, added the Portuguese language pack since I live in Brazil and I did the basic preferences without major problems.

As the material support offered by D-Link in Brazil is very superficial and very rare, I had to do everything almost blindfolded, for the full manual offered on the CD that came with the NAS is completely in English and as I said, I almost nothing.

Actually I need a better understanding of the full potential of NAS and what he can offer me actually. I know they are different possibilities, but as I am a simple user who just wants to have the files available in one place safely, I think I will use very little of the remaining resources.

My biggest problem and what made me come to this forum is related to the use of NAS in the external environment to my local network. When I first tried to install the CD that the NAS D-Link sent, when it reached the stage where the user is asked whether he has or wants to create an account DLINKDDNS.COM, said he wanted to create, what I did. Next comes a reminder in red noting that to use this service you must open port 80 on the router and it is from this that I have not succeeded.

Like I said before, I created the account in dlinkddns.com then created the name of my domain which was rodrigovieira84.dlinkddns.com and accessed the router to open port 80 so I did the normal procedure as I always have to open doors and do not worked.

I searched on google and this forum and the information is confusing and disjointed. In some it is recommended to create a virtual server on a port to other forwading or add the ip in the DMZ, the fact is that since then I've tried some things but without success!

So I feel a bit lost! I just want to externally access my files via FTP or WEB access it, what matters is that I can access and download them when you are out of my residence. So what would the service be used? what set? what would be best for me?

My equipment that I use for Internet access are:

Modem NETGEAR DM111PSP

Router TP-Link TL-WR941ND with firmware update

10MB Internet

Well, when I can remember is that, anyone who can help me, if you need any more data to clarify please request I'll post in the forum

Thanks to everyone who can somehow assist me in setting up my NAS-320!

Hugs!

Did you enable port forwarding on your router for the specific port you want to use?

I don't think I had to port forward when I set up my 320L and DDNS

Let's start with the basics

Open browser and go to mydlink.com and make certain you have an account there and can sign in

Then go to www.dlinkddns.com and use the same login as mydlink to get your free DDNS and then create it

Then login to your 320L through webpage (eg 192.168.0.??) ID and password and click  "Management" then click "Network Management" then look down and left for Dynamic DNS - fill in the specific details and save (make sure "Enable" is selected)

TheN open new browser and type in your DDNS address  FTP://???????????.dlinkddns.com

when you click Enter it should ask for ID & PW and then you should see the "accessible" shared folders in a webpage.  (You could also test with Filezila (fee to use but will give error messages which will help others (more technical) if you still can't connect).
