My Samsung 46ES8000 tv was exactly the same. No files would show up of any kind since I had the TV before Xmas. I used a raspberry PI with openelec  XBMC which was recognised by the TV and linked via HDMI so the TV controller operated the XBMC software(Anynet+™ (HDMI-CEC)). Worked great for all file formats. Today I had a Samsung software update on the TV and the files have now all appeared from the DNS-320 server and seem to be working alright so the raspberry PI might no be needed any more.
