I didn't noticed this before I updated to 2.10A

But when I'm Downloading Files the internet pretty much stops
on every other device in house and on same PC..

I get webpage can't be displayed...

this never happen before 2.10A

I noticed the Comcast DNS helper thing.. but not sure if that may be the Problem?

Any help would be great.. I download alot of work files. but hate having to wait for internet to keep surfing...

What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
Has a Factory Reset been performed before and after the FW update? Was the router working before updating? Was there a reason for updating?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
Double NAT
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1.
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules.
WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed

What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition,and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Enable WMM Enable Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.

I'm having the same problems. Downloads completely destroy bandwidth and I can't even load webpages (maybe 1 in 10 pages will load).

The download itself works fine, and my download speed (~20 Mbps) maxes out. It's just that I can't do any other internet related tasks. It appears to me that the router (I just got this router, updated straight to 2.10NA) is completely prioritizing download traffic over anything else.

I will try some of the steps FurryNutz said, and also try downgrading to the previous firmware to see if that fixes anything. As I said, I went straight to 2.10NA so I don't know if this problem exists on other firmware.

What's the process for downgrading by the way? Do I have to do a reset of some kind or do I just "update" it with the old firmware?

What version was on the router prior going to v2.10?
Was a factory reset performed both before and after the firmware was applied?
What isp midem make and model do you have?

It came with 2.04 NA.

I believe the router software automatically did a factory reset when I upgraded it. I'm not sure if it did it before and after but it definitely did it, as I do remember having to reconfigure everything.

The modem is a Motorola SURFboard SB5101U

I set the router up first with the 2.04NA and then realized there was updated firmware and updated it.

The router worked. I can't say whether it had the same bandwidth issues though since I didn't download anything with the older firmware.

How do you go about downgrading? Just "upgrade" with the older firmware?

Yes, download one of the zip file version from the main web site and unpack the .bin file from the .zip file.
Do a factory reset before sending the .bin file and one after. Then set up the router from scratch.
v2.04 was not posted to the main web site however give 2.03 or 2.07 a try, I've had both on my 655 and runs very well. If you want v2.04, let me know and I'll see if I can find it for you.

What downloads are you doing? Regular web site downloads or Torrents? If torrents, they will kill any bandwidth has the torrent programs are mainly set for maximum downloads and connections.  

Are there any other users downloading or streaming video while your trying to download?

The main culprits I've found so far have been downloads from Steam or Origin and torrents. I haven't tried any regular web downloads. It's just been me downloading.

I understand that these downloads will probably use more bandwidth than standard web downloads, but completely killing my connection seems excessive. I used to have an older version of this router before I bought the new one that I am having problems with, and I never had these issues. I could download torrents at maximum speed and still browse comfortably. I could even game while torrenting with minimal issues. The only thing that has changed since then is the router.

Tomorrow I will downgrade the firmware and report back.

Downgrading to 2.07 seems to have helped a lot. The downloads still use the same amount of bandwidth, but browsing is now possible with very little slowdown.
