I think the 1.30NA firmware completely removes this functionality, so don't upgrade!

I've upgraded, and the USB 3G Modem option is no longer listed, as per the release note:

"Remove the 3G from GUI"

Nope, as you can see, the option is just plain gone.

Currently the 3G function was removed. At this time we do not have a list of 3G USB Modems that have been tested compatible and works with shareport in the US. However out side of US is a different story...

That's too bad, as I am in Canada and I heard that the setting for Rogers and their new 3G USB Rocketstick (I think it's an Ovation device) worked quite well.

I was going to recommend the DIR-655 to a friend of mine who uses the Rogers device.  Cable/DSL is not available at his house, but cell reception is. It would have been perfect for him to share the 3G access through out his home. I guess I can't now, until the next firmware (or next one after that).

Seems kind of a poor decision to me to remove a feature, simply because it didn't work in one country out of the almost 200 in the world... D-Link is a global company, maybe it should act like one.

Sorry Ru-Fi-Oh but, can you be more specific?

Does it mean that 3G USB modem support has been dropped for all future releases or only for US firmware versions? I'm very happy with this feature and I'm sure that I'm not the only one.

I can understand that D-Link cannot provide support for all the different types of USB 3G modems at any country but I do not think that it is an "all or nothing" decision. Even in the case that DIR655 only could support a limited set of USB modems I think that is a good feature.

In my case I'm using a Huawei E220 (firmware version 11.117.10.00.00) and works fine, even though I needed to setup my provider manually since my country (Spain) was not listed in the drop down list.

Please, can you transmit to D-Link my concerns (I hope I will not be the only one) about this decision?

Hello Ru-Fi-Oh,
I'm from Brazil and I use Huawei Mobile Modem, but it doesn't work with DIR628. I saw that you told that's problem only in US, but here in Brazil it didn't work.

How can I to do to change this situation, its very important for me to use 3G Modem?
