1.22b5 Status now that there is 1.3 beta

will work continue on the 1.22 firmware now that they came out with 1.30 or is 1.22 frozen?

1.22 is frozen (or work has ended, to be correct), 1.30/1.31 will be the finals-to be.

from the Release Notes, look like 1.3 remove more functions from 1.22b5 then adding features.
If 1.22b5 is working fine in your system, don't see any reason to upgrade it.

for the "no downgrading" option,  I will not even try until version 1.35

I think 1.31 will be one of the last we will see for the DIR. Except for necessary bugfixes, but it seems rather bugfree at the moment.

And again I'm not able to reproduce any of those incidents (less the 20 is not really a bug I would say from a professional point of view). It could just as well be an external error, it has not yet been clear that it is a bug...

Call me a Dlink Boy, I don't mind but from a professional IT point of view this really does not qualify as a bug.

This has been a solid build for me, right up there with 1.11 in my environment. So, doubtful I move off it to 1.31.

I contend the DNS Relay bug which was suppose to have been fixed is still an issue in FW1.31.  Turning off DNS Relay in FW1.31 resolves the above issue for several people per the forums below:

I'm not saying there's nothing wrong. But you are jumping to conclusions that it's a "DNS relay bug".
If you see something red speeding on the highway is does not have to be a Ferrari....

The fact is that the internet gateway may have something to do with it. I can imagine that some ISP's still have certain restrictions on their modems, thus impacting the enhanced DNS function (which automatically turns  the DNS relay feature on) on fw 1.31 .

So the best thing to do is to describe as detailled as possible under what conditions (also other network/gateway devices/ISP's) the issue surfaces. Since I don not have the issue (and I do use the DNS relay+enhanced DNS) this is crucial. If it were generic I would suffer also, no matter what the config.

Hi, you mentioned that you think the V1.31 firmware will be the last ever update for the DIR router(s).  That worries me if it is true.  Where do you get this information from? are you associated with Dlink somehow that you know this for sure?  I am asking and concerned as I just purchased this DIR-655 A4 router and was hoping it will be updated to the standard final wireless-N specification when they pass it (supposedly as early as this Sept 2009 now).

Do you know if Dlink is going to leave all of us hanging with obsolete Dlink routers or will they update the firmware when wireless-N is finalized?

I'm not affiliated with Dlink, but let's say I keep my comms open... ;)
Anyway, I don't know yet if the current issues that came up after the 1.31 release will truigger more firmware updates.

Looking at the WA (wifi alliance) schedule the formal sign off is planned in feb/march 2010. I think it really depends on how the process with WA wil go ánd how the final specs will be. So you won't see any guarantees from manufacturers about updates to the final N specs.

But if the specs will remain the way they are now in the draft N proposal, you won't have any benefit from a 'final N' version.
