 Hi guys

I have minimal networking skills, but I assume that I need to configure gateway or DNS here. Let me give you the setup:

1. First D-Link router is in office #1. It receives internet connectivity via land line ADSL. There are 2 notebooks in that office that get internet wirelessly from that router. I have a CAT5 cable that runs from port 1 in that router to my second D-Link router (same model) in office #2.
2. This router connects to my PC via port 1 and connects to the router in office #1 through port 2. At first it works fine and the net is active in office #2. But eventually after 10 min or so, it drops.

Please note that if you tell me to manually change the IP address (or something like that), please tell me under which heading that is in the User Interface, as Im not too good with netwrking.

The DSL modems are only designed to work as main host modems and routers. They are not designed to work as a switch or a 2ndary forum of internet connection. I recommend that you put in place of Modem #2 is a external Network Switch. This will help you get everything connected between your PC, Modem and all other PCs.

Preferred method to connect this would be something like this:
DSL modem>external switch<>PCs connected to switch.

The DSL modems are only designed to work as main host modems and routers. They are not designed to work as a switch or a 2ndary forum of internet connection. I recommend that you put in place of Modem #2 is a external Network Switch. This will help you get everything connected between your PC, Modem and all other PCs.

Damn, I was told to buy the second one, Disable DHCP, and make sure that the wireless is using different channels but the same SSID. Sigh

If you can return the 2nd one then get the network switch. It will be WAYYYYY easier to set up than trying to configure a 2nd modem/router. And you'd be wasting features of the 2nd modem by doing that. Once you connect the switch you'll thing, wow, this was easy.
