New problem with FW 1.31NA

Well I updated to the new FW (1.30 to 1.31NA) hoping to solve the issues I delveloped with 1.30 after 3-4 days the Router was not connected and I was not able to connect via the setup screen. I unplugged the router and waited a few seconds and plugged it back in. When I signed in to the setup I found the router had been reset to factory specs.
I have tried repeatedly to re-enter the configuration, first with my saved config file. (says it was successful) when it reboots the router is still reset to factory spec. I then tried entering the info manually each time it reboots it does not save the config.

I am scratching my head with this one. Essentially its useless now.

BTW Spell check in the forums is messed up the screen shows a black background and black text. Kinda hard to read.

Try reflashing the firmware (1.3x). It might be a bad flash.

How would it be a bad flash? Does part of the flash process not do a checksum on the flashed code to ensure it's flashed without errors?
Or for that matter, does the modem not perform a checksum verification on each reboot, to ensure the code has not been tampered with?

I have had numerous PC BIOS flash errors in the 24 years working with computers, these things happen sometimes. Why do you think all Asus motherboards have either a double BIOS or a BIOS restore feature...?

 I'd prefer to focus on solving the issue instead of guessing why a bad flash can occur.

They have it because a bad flash is almost guaranteed to brick your motherboard. I was assuming a bad flash would almost surely brick the router, or at least cause problems during booting of the device?

A really bad flash brick the router, but I haven't seen one here. The flash routine can perhaps do a lousy job and leave some remnants of the old code in place, I really don't know how this happens (I do not have that much spare time left to find out), but is has been proven in this forum that reflashing can do miracles.

Just an update on this problem.
I unplugged it for a few days due to the frustration level with the last few updates and plugged my old router in.
Once I had a few minutes to go mess with it I reset it to factory defaults and re did my config manually without restoring the backup, So far its been rock solid for 4 days. Hope it was just a bad config.
