Thanks, but being "very" careful is needed more than luck when playing with firmware.

I haven't had the need to pay attention to multicast before so this exercise is a little interesting.

I'm thinking about the FetchTV IPTV service my ISP offers now.

I don't think that would have worked either and there is the question of flooding all the ports on the bridge with the multicast traffic.

I think I'll hook my FetchTV box back up for a while to check this out, before I cancel the service, 

I see there is no recovery application for this router, does anyone know if there is an emergency firmware reload accessible using the reset button?

The reset button should work to bring it back to default settings and you should be able to access the UI using 192.168.0.1. You should not need any recovery mode.

If there's a mistake in changes and the device fails to boot that isn't possible.
In that case one needs a recovery mechanism to load a known good firmware.

Many routers do have such a mechanism, but rarely provide that information.

That assumes the 865L uses the same boot loader as the devices reported to work in that thread.
Do we know what boot loader these devices use, anyone?

Exactly, that's why I'm going to quite while I'm ahead, at lest until I find out how to recover the device.
That's not exactly high priority since I have the basic level of functionality I need now, with my multicast change.

It won't do anything to the unit if you attempt to give this a try. It will either bring up the recovery window or it won't. If you don't want to continue with the process at this stage then just turn the unit off then back on.

I has already tried but maybe I didn't get the procedure quite right.

Tried the procedure with my 865L and could not get the Recover screen. The amber light blinks but nothing comes up in the browser. The 865L might be different or have a different recover mode that I'm not aware of.
