I don't have NTP available for a DAP-2553.

Any idea how I can get past the 2012 year limit?

Im also running a DAP-2553 and the latest selectable manual year is 2012.

Firmware: 1.25
Hardware Version: A1

The NTP settings 207.232.83.70 (ntp1.dlink.com) dont seem to have any effect.

I recommend that you both phone contact your regional local D-Link support office and ask for level 2 or higher support.

I recommend that you both phone contact your regional local D-Link support office and ask for level 2 or higher support.

Is that the same as calling 1(877)-354-6555 (Business support number at http://www.dlink.com/us/en/support/contact-support ) ...

because: "the expected hold time is greater than 20 minutes..."

This is an issue on all DAP-2553 models, not just his (not being able to set the date manually to anything later than 2012).

I have been able to get around it using a NTP server on the same LAN...

I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support and get help and information on this. This is an issue with FW and is beyond support here in the forums and must be addresses directly with D-Link.

Here's your definitive answer:
Open a command prompt, enter a telnet session with the ap (Telnet ***.***.***.*** where the stars are the IP of the AP)
enter admin credentials
once you get to a prompt that looks like this: WAP->

enter this:
set time (year) (month number) (day number) (hour) (minute) (second)
so... RIGHT NOW would be
set time 2013 11 20 9 52 00

I'd venture a guess that if they have a telnet interface it will at least be very similar, however, this workaround has only been tested on a DAP-2553.

Also- make sure you turn off NTP update and set the date/time to manual.

Agreed it should work, however I presume there could be some DAP models that don't have an FTP interface. I might check my 1533 and see.

This is a NA region only release. I'll try and find out if other regions will get it as well. Can try if you like, just not officially supported on other regions.
