UPnP failing

I have a 4500 running 1.15 (the firmware check in the tools tab says this is the most recent, even though I know you just released 1.20).

I have an HP MediaSmart server.  It attempts to configure the 4500 via UPnP and can never do it.  The router just won't let it.  4500 is set to take it, but someting always goes wrong and I'd love to understand what I have to do to make the magic happen.

Where xx.xx.xx.xx is my actual IP (and correct).  So not sure what the dealio is.

In my experience, firmware versions 1.10-1.15 have flawed/buggy/broken UPnP IGD support.

It didnt start functioning properly (again) until 1.16 beta, and so far 1.20 seems "fine" as far as UPnP functionality and support go.

My suggestion is to upgrade to 1.16 or 1.20.

I have found just the opposite. I too have a HP MediaSmart Server and UPnP used to work fine with it until upgrading to 1.20 firmware. Now, after roughly 10 minutes of the server configuring UPnP with the router, the UPnP rules are erased until I tell the server to re-apply them and the cycle continues. The only fix for this so far is to manually configure. It makes me rethink if it was worth upgrading from 1.15.

I flashed the router with the new firmware, reset to factory defaults, and then went in and set up all my configurations again like it was a new router.

Additional, after the new firmware version (1.20) I'm seeing my router not only not properly handle UPnP, but overall unstability. The router is freezing up daily now and becomes unresponsive. I can't even access the web utility. The only fix is to power cycle the unit. I have even flashed the router again with the firmware and done the above to verify that it wasn't some fluke.

From my experience, 1.20 has turned the DGL-4500 into a complete and utter disaster that needs to be fixed ASAP.

I agree... the router feels slow. Even when using the Web Management, it used to be a lot faster. I just disabled uPNP to see if it improves.
Also, Sending Logs via email doesn't work anymore. I had it working on 1.15 perfectly (previous firmware also had trouble).

Next Time I'm buying an Apple Airport Extreme. or a dedicated router plus a wireless Access Point.
This is a nightmare.

I assume you did enable UPnP in the router, but did you enable "Allow Users to modify Virtual Server Mappings" (same menu)?
Also, run "UPnP test", it might help you diagnose the problem.
