H/W: A3
F/W: 1.31NA
Shareport 1.10
Windows 7 64Bit build 7100 (all power saving options disabled)
Wired connection RTL8111B with DHCP reservation via router (Tried different drivers)

Random, but continous disconneting problem. Shareport can see and connect to the device without problem, but after some time (minutes to hours) device wont work anymore. Sahreport says this device is connected, but its not working. After disconnect and reconnect via Shareport it wont connect anymore. It try to connect for few seconds, but allways come back to available status. Only router reboot fix this.

Problem summary: Shareport lose connection to device after some time connected. Device available, but shareport can not connect to it and give no error messages.

edit:
I had this same problem with fresh install of XP SP3 32Bit and F/W 1.30/1.31.

A4, 1.31, Shareport 1.10.  Windows 7 x64 7100, Windows 7 x32 7077.  Exact same issue as above re: shareport working fine after a router reboot, but randomly losing the ability to connect to my printer.  It detects fine, but won't connect until a router reboot.  Restarting shareport does nothing, nor does restarting the computer.  Other than that, it works beautifully.

A2 running 1.31
Shareport 1.10
Printer and external drive connected to powered USB hub
I have 3 computers connected to the router.
1 Windows XP 32 wired
1 Windows XP 32 wireless
1 Vista 64 wireless
The Win XP wireless stays on 24/7, just log off the user.  The other computers get turned off daily.
When I turn the router off and back on shareport seems to connect to the printer just fine and then some time later it stops connecting to the printer.  When it stops connecting on one computer is stops on the others as well, until I restart the router.

If more info is needed, please let me know.

No such issues here with A2 hardware on 1.31. No reboots, disconnects.

- Vista x32 wireless (2x)
- XP x32 wireless
- Windows 7 x64 wired
- Latest install (replacing 1 Vista x32): W7 x32 wireless

I'm surprised to see a second post opened for this issue, does this mean a second dlink engineer is researching the problem. I hope the comments already made in previous posts will not be ignored.
EddieZ is convinced the problem is with the client pc's, but how relevant to the problem are his results as he is not using the same hardware as those experiencing the problem (A2 Hardware, not A3/A4) - do you have access to an A3/A4 router to check whether your functioning system still works.
Looking at the results the majority of the problems are with A3/A4 hardware, I suspect any A1/A2 problems are due to the problems that EddieZ has graphically described.
For completeness, my problem is that I can see my USB device in the Shareport utility but can not connect. I have exactly the same problem with 3 computers:
Desktop - Vista SP2 RC
Laptop - Vista SP1
Desktop - Windows 7RC
Sorry, meant EddieZ not AlexX

Problem: Shareport detects USB devices, but cannot connect.
Only rebooting router fixes the problem, but "temporarily" (several hours or minutes).

FW: A4 1.31NA
Shareport: 1.10
PCs: 4 PCs  -- 2 WindowXP SP3(32bit) (1 wired, 1wireless),
2 Vista Home Premium(32bit, both wireless)
( Even with only one PC (OS or wired/wireless doesn't matter) the same problem happens)

Hardware: A4
Firmware: 1.31 (had the same problem with 1.30, but not with 1.2x)
Shareport: 1.10
USB device: Canon Pixma MP500 Multifunction Printer
PC no.1: Desktop with Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit (SP1), CPU: Intel Q6600, Network adapter: Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit (Wired connection)
PC no.2: Acer laptop with Windows 7 32bit, CPU: AMD Turion Single-core, Network adapter: Atheros AR5005G (Wireless connection)

Problem: USB device works after router reboot for a couple of hours. After that it will be unable to connect. Sometimes it connects briefly before it then disconnects after a few seconds (but the USB device will still not work). If I then reboot the router again everything will start working automatically for a few hours. The time it takes before it stops working seems to be non-consistant, but it is never more than a day, usually much much less like 1-3 hours or so.

As you can see there are no hardware similarities to my PCs at all. Both my PCs have the same problem at the exact same time, and they also both work at the same time after router reboot. If one PC is on and the other is off when the problem occurs, turning on the other computer will not help (thus it can't be related to sleeping HW components). In other words: Whether or not the computers are on or off make absolutely no difference.

Rebooting the computers, the printer or shareport itself does NOT help. Only rebooting DIR-655 works.

Having the same issues as others also. The title says

If it is indeed working for so many people you wouldn't want them posting in here cause its for people with ISSUES only?

Just have a look at Xinot's wise consideration and reconsider your rant.

Hardware: A1
Firmware: 1.31NA
Shareport: 1.10
USB device: Canon Pixma iP2600 Printer
PC no.1: Desktop with Windows 7 RC 64bit, wired connection
PC no.2: Sony Vaio Z590 with Windows 7 RC 32bit, wireless N connection
PC no.3: Sony Vaio T250 with Windows XP SP3, wireless G connection

Problem: Same problem as others.  Printer works after router reboot for a couple of hours. Version A3
Firmware 1.30NA/1.31NA
Shareport 1.10
USB Device: Canon Pixma iP4500 printer

PC1: Windows 7 RC x64 wired + 802.11N
PC2: Windows 7 RC x64 802.11N
PC3: Windows XP SP3 x86 802.11N

All PCs always SEE the printer, but all will lose the ability to connect after short period of time.  All computers lose the ability to connect simultaneously.  Reboot of router solves issue momentarily.  Nothing else has been found to work.

So it must be hardware/firmware related issue!

Sounds like to me that the various types of printers maybe going into a power save sleep mode after idling timeout and then the router is not sending the proper wake up signal trigger to wake the usb printer and get its attention again?  Firmware maybe needs to be re-written to wink the signal line to the usb port maybe to wake up the usb printer (or usb devices that go to sleep).  Just a guess based on what is described in this thread.
