Hello,

I read "PPPOE/L2TP/PPTP Manual Mode, 'Idle Time' field to gray. (and value set to 0) " in the release notes, will this fix my outbound PPTP connection over wifi? I got a DIR 615 B2 on 2.25 (2008/05/16), no other "problems" detectable, wifi works fine, wired works fine, outbound PPTP connection succeeds, but from the moment I send out huge data, it drops. Tried suggestions as unchecking IPS, unchecking PPTP in firewall, and even lowering MTU on PPTP itself, all unsuccessfully. I've seen log messages such as Blocked incoming TCP packet from my-vpn-external-ip:1723 to my-own-external-ip:57625 as FIN:ACK received but there is no active connection, tried plenty workaround, all unsuccessfull.

But what's the point of having wifi when you need a 20m CAT6 cable for this VPN  ;D

What do you advice? Flashing this beta? Grabbing
KK

Background info:
- VPN client on windows 7 professional
- Wifi is WPA2, MTU=1500
- standard "new VPN connection" in Win7, no multi-link, no compression, LCP negotiation, PPTP fixed (no automatic), CHAPv2 encryption, no IPv6, IPv4 with and without default gateway, no difference
- VPN host: synology with PPTP server, all 1723/GRE ports correctly configured, MTU=1400 - tried to lower to 700, which had a positive impact (disconnects over wifi takes more time)
- region Europe (Belgium)
- cable internet connection

Hello!

I saw that post, but I was bit afraid of the Russian version, however through the official d-link support page (http://www.dlink.com/be/nl/support/product/dir-615-wireless-n-300-router?revision=deu_revb), I discovered the European FTP site, leading to ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dir/dir-615/driver_software/

I took the DIR-615_fw_revb_227b01-02_ALL_en_20100526-1.zip firmware (which seems to have the same changelog as the Russian one), however the PPTP connection does not stay alive through wireless (wired still works fine).

Any more suggestions?

Thanks!
KK

PS If this topique isn't in the right spot anymore (no beta code), do not hesitate to move it.

Wireless Configurations
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion and Good Neighbour Policy
  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • What wireless devices do you have connected?
  • Any cordless house phones?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
  • Enable WMM Enable Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
