Wireless help
« on: September 01, 2013, 12:45:19 PM »

I have a dir 655 with the latest firmware. The hardware revision is B. I am having a couple of issues with some of my wireless devices. I have tried Wireless N only since I only have N devices. Auto channel. Channel width 20 mhz. I have also tried 20/40 as well. WPA 2 only. I have tried AES only and AES or TKIP. Any tips? Any known issues? I also checked around me area and there doesn't seem to be that many wireless access points around me.

v2.11NA works for my and my wireless devices using Single mode N, WPA2/AES Only and Auto-20/40Mhz.

Does single mode G work?

What are these devices are are having a problem with?

Sorry to flood. Also when I first set it up I left all the wireless settings default and my ipad and my samsung galaxy tab wouldn't connect at all. It would see the SID but not connect. Very weird.

Does Mixed G and N, TPIK only and 20Mhz only help?

Well right now is is Mixed G and N, WPA2 only, TKIP & AES, and 20 Mhz only. So far it seems ok but then I just set it up like that a little while ago. I was Wireless N only, 20/40Mhz, WPA2 Only, and AES only and was good for a few days and then had issues.

Any tips?

Possible issue with these Samsung devices. I use Single mode N for all of my devices here, how ever I don't have any Samsung devices. Only Apple devices and D-Link wireless adapters.

Does same thing happen on your DIR-825?

For some weird reason I was getting really bad download speeds on my 825 on my cromebook so I put that back in my box and fired up my old 655.

Does channel width cause any issues with disconnects? 20Mhz or Auto at all?

What does channel width do then? 130mps to 300mps? Can you achieve 300mps

If your devices support 40Mhz and 300Mn wireless connections on 2.4Ghz, then If you set single mode N, WPA2/AES only and Auto 20/40Mhz, those devices should connect at 270-300Mb. My Mac Book Pro only connects at 130Mb on 2.4Ghz.

What happens if they all don't. Doesn't it kick everything back to 130 and if that is the case doesn't it just make more sense to leave it at 20.

Any tips for settings that have to do with disconnects?

Maybe picking a channel?
Some setting in advanced settings?
Some other setting I am missing in wireless settings?

Last time I checked, mine was able to connect at 300 with a DWA adapter I have. And all other devices connected at 65 thru 130Mb.

I use Auto 20/40Mhz. Try channel 11 first then maybe 6 or 1.

Might test with Short GI Disabled if thats enabled. Enable WWM should always be enabled.

Had issues last night so I went back to. Wireless N and G. I picked channel 11 since there seems like no one is using that channel in my area. Channel width at 20MHZ. WPA2 Only. AES Only.
