So D-Link definitely messed this up, but if you disable dns relay, you don't have to manually enter dns on all the machines.  Worst case you just restart the device although most of the time you can just connect/disconnect.

I am not sure why so many people are oposed to turning dns relay off.  Obviously you shouldn't need to turn it off but atleast the router works if you do.

Its also strange how the mods have been silent within the last couple days.
I am also a little concerned at how quiet everything is.  I set up the replacement I got from DLink and for some reason the 5GHz band is practically unusable unless I'm less than 50ft away, hope this one doesn't die.  I've had to deal with so many RMAs and other crap these past two weeks, if one more piece of electronic equipment dies on me in the next week, I'm going to explode.  So far, I've lost a router, a cell phone (sent two dead replacements by Alltel), a DVD burner, and two fans in my computer (one case fan, one PSU fan).  This is absurd, perhaps there is some sort of cosmic interference going on.

Anywho, I'd like a new firmware please.  I'm stuck on 1.01 until this gets fixed.  I turned off DNS relay on my old 1.11 and that didn't help me, it locked up after a week, so I'll just wait for the new firmware. (hope it happens soon)

Well, I disabled DNS relay over a week ago, but this morning my router froze up and I couldn't log in. I wonder if it's the fact I keep Guest Zone access freely available for anyone to use and there possibly can be up to ten people or more wirelessly connected at one time and screwing things up. Anyway, I've gotten used to simply pulling the power cord by now so I guess it isn't a big deal anymore.

I can't disable the DNS relay because it is grayed out.  Any suggestions?

I have Firmware Version: 1.11NA

Where is it located?

In the web admin page, if you go to Setup (top), then Network Settings (left).. it should be in the "Router Settings" section on that page.

I just got the router last week and am having the exact same problem every 48 hours.  I should've read these forums before upgrading to 1.11

I also had to disable WMM and Short GI.   I use this router with a Media extender and would run the Tune Network and just watch the network jump from all green bars to 0 bars every few seconds.....   I am on Firmware 1.11NA....   Just another thought for anyone having issues...

This option is under Advanced, Advanced Wireless.....

When you guys upgraded the firmware did you reset the unit and also did you try loading a config file from previous firmware?

Also how is the wireless environment? Any cordless phones?

Initially, I loaded a saved configuration but after seeing the suggestions here, I reset the configuration to defaults and had the same problem (with the DNS relay enabled). With DNS relay disabled, I've been going OK for more than a week now.

My wireless environment... I have a 5.8 GHz (both ways) cordless phone (but I disable the 5.8GHz band). But, I am not having any wireless issues with this firmware... just general stability issues seemingly related to the above. The router just stops working properly after a few days with DNS relay turned on, and that seems to be about the size of it.

I have a 6.0 GHZ phone so there is no issues there....  Initially I just upgraded and went from there and could not even connect.  Then I reset to factory and rebuilt config from scratch...  Initially I had issues with once I made the SSID invisible I could not even ping anything that was connected via wireless...  I went in and disabled DNS relay and things improved some but was still seeing inconsistencies in the wireless that were not there before.  This is when I disabled the WMM and the Short GI...  Things have improved some... Connecting at 243 as opposed to 270+ before the upgrade.

Just joined the forum to get in on this Board. Captcha was "FCK UP". Funny.

I am having these issues as well with HW A1 Firmware 1.11NA. I am using 2.4GHz as g/n, and 5GHz as n, on separate SSIDs. I have a Printer and Bridge that are always on and connected to the router (one on each SSID). I live in the city so theres no telling what kind of EMF is around. Both SSIDs are fully secured however.

When I upgraded the firmware, I allowed the router to reboot itself. Following that I loaded a config file that was created using the previous firmware version. Following that I noticed no difference in performance until 2 days later internet was crawling slow, and I couldn't access the admin page. After unplugging and plugging in the router, it worked fine. Problems reoccurs every few days. Following many suggestions on this board drawn this period out to 4-5 days now.

I loved this product before this firmware. Please work hard at this and find a solution.

We will make note of all the findings in this thread. In the mean time, have you tried what others found to work around this issue?

Wouldn't it make a whole lot of sense to pull the 1.11 firmware off the site until this is fixed?  I hate to see new people have their routers screwed up with this.

I've had a couple of friends buy this router lately and I've advised them very strongly to stick with 1.01.  It was a great router on that firmware, but an extremely frustrating one on 1.11 (not to mention that email support kept wanting me to do silly stuff even after I pointed them to this thread...to the point I gave up and decided to live with it for a little longer and see if a fix can be delivered).
