Hi

Sorry if this is a silly question, but this is my first foreay into NAS drives!

So ... I have a windows PC with 2 x 2TB HDD's filled with my movies and music.  The PC has died so I want to go the NAS route - here comes the silly question - can I just take these HDD's out of the PC and pop them in the D-Link and hey presto all is fine?

IF not (which I'm presumming the answer is) ... do I have to reformat both (after copying the data somehow) and will the d-link do that?

If not I'll have to just go for a hdd dock me thinks!

The DNS-320L reads HDDs using the Linux filesystem. Windows formatted HDDs will not be readable by the unit. The DNS-320L performs all HDD formatting internally.

One forward thinking consideration you should take in mind: the DNS-320L accepts 3TB and 4TB HDDs. sp if you see your data storage needs growing beyond 2x2TB within the next several months, you may find it easier to start with larger HDDs rather than suffer through the pain of a second data migration.
