DIR-655 Schedule Not Working
« on: October 03, 2013, 08:34:57 PM »

DIR-655
HW: A4
SW: 1.34NA
Browser: Firefox 24

I set a couple schedules, "weekends" and "weekdays" for wireless.  I've then enabled the schedules in setup->wireless->enable wireless->save settings.  The schedules don't work, wireless never turns on.  I've checked the clock on my computer, it's correct.  I can select "always" and "never", and that turns wireless on and off with no problem.

There used to be a bug with the schedules, not sure if it is still there.  Any schedule that wrapped around midnight would not work.  Had to create two schedules, one that ended at midnight and another that picked up from midnight on.  You would use the same rules but had to have two of them to compensate for the midnight bug.

Thanks for the tip, but both my schedules end at 11pm.

1.) 4pm - 11pm
2.) 6:30am - 11pm

Always should be used in conjunction with the scheduling I believe...

Which schedule if for what week and weekends?

"Always" and "weekdays" ("weekdays" being my custom schedule) can NOT be used together.  "Always" indicates wireless should always be on, "weekdays" is the custom schedule I've created.  The two can not be selected at the same time.

"When Wireless is enabled, the default selection for scheduling is "Always". Selections for other schedules will be available in the drop down menu after users define schedules in the "Schedule" page. This function gets disabled when wireless is disabled."

....right, I agree with this statement.  But your implication is that I have to have "always" selected?  That's not my understanding.  "Always" is what you select when you want wireless to always be on.  When you create a schedule, you change the selection from "always" to what you named your schedule.  The schedule you create and "always" can not be selected at the same time.  Or am I missing something?

Always has nothing to do with the WiFi radio being ON or Off, it is for the scheduling of the rules you set up and whether the rules apply as ALWAYS or Never.

The radio being ON or OFF is handled by the check mark box.

The "enable wireless" checkbox determines if the schedule will be enabled or not.

If "enable wireless" is not checked, then the entire "wireless network settings" section goes grey, and wireless is off.
If "enable wireless" is checked, then the wireless schedule will be controlled by the schedule in the pickbox.  The pickbox has "always, never, weekends, weekdays".

So I've checked "enable wireless" and from the pickbox selected "weekdays".  That should enable wireless from 4pm to 11pm.  However, wireless does not turn on.

"Always" and "weekdays" can not be selected at the same time.  They are within the same pickbox.

Can only be one listed schedule rule at a time. You'll need to pick one.

So when for 4pm to 11pm should be either OFF during this time frame or ON.
Does changing to 11pm to 4pm do anything?

Are you still on v1.34?

The implication is that I'm picking two?  That's not what I'm saying.  I'm only picking one, it's only possible to pick one, it's not possible to pick two.

I have "enable wireless" checked, and one schedule selected, which is "weekdays".

It does not make a difference if I select "weekends".  The wireless remains off (even though "enable wireless" is still checked).

Changing to "weekends", which is 6:30am to 11pm does not do anything.  Wireless remains off.

I'm on 1.34NA

Schedules used to work on this router, I'm going to delete and re-create the schedules again, see if that does anything.

Deleting and then re-creating the schedules didn't help.  I set the schedule to turn wireless "on", and the scheduled time comes and goes without wireless turning on.

When you have all the rules set up and after saving the settings, are you fully rebooting the router?
