Hi,

I just installed my two new DWA-182 cards one on my own computer and the other in my GF computer.

I am running Windows 8.1 (MSDNAA version, not the preview) and my GF is running Windows 7. (Both x64)

They both connect ok to my Asus RT-AC66U router on 5Ghz, 80mhz channel width, but the one connected to my computer (Windows 8.1) keeps crashing randomly, seems to happen from 10sec to 30min from connecting. The only way to get the netcard back up is to take it out of USB and put it back in.

Ive tried both my USB2.0 controller and my USB3.0 one, same result.

Ive tried switching the two netcards, same result.

Ive tried the 1.01 driver, and the 1.02 driver, same result.

Ive tried several firmwares on the router, same result.

I guess this is a bug with the current driver and Windows 8.1, and since Windows 8.1 is scheduled to release mid October, i thought it might be a good time to fix the problem.

If i can help with any extra details ill be ready to supply them as good as i can.

• What Hardware version is the DWA?
• What region are you located?

Did you swap with the GFs Pc to ensure the DWA is working on her PC? I presume it will.

Hi thanks for the response.

Both cards are revision A1.

I tried swapping them around, and when ever they were in the Windows 7 machine, they worked flawlessly.

Well I see drivers were just posted last month. I presume there is a problem with the Win 8 operation. Ensure any 3rd party security SW like firewalls and Anti-virus is disabled while you test this or during installation.

Im sorry but there has to be another way for me to report this bug than calling a 3.5kr/minute phone number, thats not accetable to me, ill be happy to provide any info, test or other needed material, but im not going to pay extra to get an already expensive product to work.

Could i use a support email instead?

Since your in the EU region, you'll need to contact them there. Theres nothing we can do here from the NA region. Each region handles there own regional products and customers.

You could use email however my personal experiences with email is been less than favorable an has never resolved anything or they've always told me to phone in anyways.

I'll ask my contact here if there is any information or known issues with it.

Hi,

Small update if anyone is following.

Since the release of Windows 8.1 there has still not been any improvement, but i have managed to find that every time this happens, there is a set of event logs that gets written:

"A timeout occurred while waiting for the EHCI host controller Interrupt on Async Advance Doorbell response.

"WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.

Module Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\bcmihvsrv64.dll"

It seems to happen more often under high network load.

And happens regardless if the usb used is my usb2.0 or usb3.0 controller.

I'm seeing the  same thing happen with the C1 hardware version I have. Returned the A1 version which worked reasonably will, but when I saw Dlink had a C1 hardware revision, and Fry's actually carried it , I tried it out.

The C1 version initially connected and now it refuses to see any network at all. I used the latest driver from Dlink and it is attached toa USB 3.0 running win 8 64bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Disappointed that this C1 version didn't work as well. Had High hopes as I was waiting for that version to hit the shelves. C1 version supports USB 3.0 over A1 version USB 2.0. THe USB 3.0 version will be able to handle the AC bandwidth and I was hoping to hit it's theoretical #...no dice.

Both versions would connect and the adapter would be seen underneath Win 8 initially, than disconnect and I couldn't even access the DLink manager, it would just lock up. I have the latest drivers on that machine and I downloaded the latest software for the c1 adapter from dlink , even though it came with the disk. Dlink drivers support Win7/8. Software and drivers are too buggy for now. Will wait till DLink releases stable software and retry later

Took it back yesterday, and reconnected my Dlink 130, connects to the N-side, works flawless.

Being a beta tester sucks if you want to be on the bleeding edge
