Can you factory reset and this time set up the router from scratch without loading the saved config file...report findings please.

I have an HTPC (wireless) connected and the 5GHz band is unstable...

I have compared to 1.10b04, 1.10b09 for 5GHz stability. All seem to have a similar signal strength in the range of 50% +- but when using the beta FW only 2.4GHz has a steady signal, but not near the quality of stability that 5GHz gives me.

I installed and reinstalled my D-Link AC1200, trying to see why I couldn't hold a 5Ghz connection. If I ran the windows troubleshooter it would connect as corrected and then disconnect with a error triangle.
Using either b04 or b09 I have a steady 5GHz connection.

The website does not show b09 as available or released.. but if you run an FW check in the router software it offers b09 update. I am disabled and use my wireless HTPC a lot during the day and the 2.4GHz quality is just not there.. unfortunately this will make trying build 10 difficult for me. I do need my HTPC working correctly. Hopefully I will read that an improvement has been made for this and I can try it again.

When I first connected my router it had b04 loaded. My 5GHz signal was reading 68%. Now I'm lucky if I get 50% stable.. can drop to in the 30's. It seems that doing an FW change has lowered my signal strength? Where is the 5GHz 'Boost' I read about, does 'StreamBoost' work on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands?

I did a restore to factory defaults and uploads of my saved configurations with each FW change.

It's a repeat, I did a clean/reset (even with the bottom of router, reset) and reinstalled 10. I did manual setup, not the saved and I have the same results. I am seeing 35-60% signal strength using 5GHz and on my WMC player I can get a blank screen, audio only and/or no tuner found.. even if 60% Signal. 2.4GHZ works as expected.

When returning to 1.10b09 my HDTV popped on instantly playing a good picture and sound, 5GHz, even when the signal strength is 'Fair' 35%. It will go between that and around 60% (mostly in the upper strengths). The "Modes': are standard, no changes. 2.4GHz 802.11n,g and b. 5GHz 802.11ac,n and a. Always on with 2.4GHz channel width 'Auto 20/40 MHz', 5GHz channel width 'Auto 20/40/80 MHz.

Also I have noticed that on the reset start up pages, it doesn't show the StreamBoost choice..just prev or next.. so I hit next and then from the next page..hit prev to return and see the StreamBoost acceptance page.. then I can continue..but I don't see an active bandwidth test as in 04.
I also see slower switch over connects between 2.4 and 5 on my HTPC... slower than 04.

On the plus side.. I had hardly seen any bar or graph movement before like build 10. I now see the lower boxes with band information and the horizontal bars giving some better visual information. It's a burst of information and no movements on and off even with active data downloads. Possibly that's due to packet(s) and how it reads.

My equipment is: SiliconDust HD HomeRun triple channel, CableCard tuner (hardwired to router), with a digital tuner supplied by my Cable company (also LAN hardwired). 'Wireless' to my PC using a D-Link AC1200 dual band USB adapter(sorry, currently switched to a T-Link TL-WDN3200 N600 Wireless USB dual band adapter. The AC1200 was not working as well with build10, and as part of my trouble shooting).
MSI 990FXA-GD65, AMD Phenom II 1090T 6 core, 16GB 2133 memory 8X2, MSI 7770 GPU, OCZ 650w PSU. Phillips 42" HDTV and 20" Monitor (dual monitor capable). Only the HDTV on... monitor is only occasional.

If you want more information, just let me know. And if an improvement is available or if you want me to test again through the stages, again just let me know.

Call the distance 20'... I measured 18'+-, but line of sight is even a little closer. Basic ranch home, line of sight is thru 2 walls to My HTPC and AC1200 Receiver.
The router sits separate, but it's part of a pile.. CATV router(Bridge Mode), another CATV router for my Cable Telephone(CATV LAN and Cable coax connected) and my HD HomeRun Cable Card tuner(LAN jumper from Channel Tuner and Cable coax connected).

Let me know how I can help with further testing, staying 9 until....
I am going to remove the TP-Link and reinstall the AC1200. If the 1200 still underperforms the TP..I will address that under AC1200 I guess...lol I expect it to be fine.. the TP as I said was as a test. It's an additional connector for my laptop.

Any chance you can put the client device and router in line of sight with out 2 walls on 5Ghz?
5Ghz isn't great with building materials.

What is the model of this ISP modem?

Is the 5500 with in 6" of other devices?

Also D-Link mentioned that if we could test with out any additional APs or Bridges for some initial testing of the WiFi, this would help in reporting your findings. With and without additional WiFi going on. They are testing with and with out APs and looking into the behavior of the 5500 and with using additional APs and Bridges.

If anyone has been testing, please note any Mfr and model APs and Bridges you may be using with the 5500. Test the 5500 with out these running and report your findings.

I have been using a DIR-865L in bridge mode with my 5500 use for an Xbox connection. Sometimes a DIR-868L as well.

Let us know what you have and any results. There are looking into this WiFi issue.

I have a 30' Cat6.. I'll reinstall both my AC1200, re-install build 10 and try it. For what it's worth, as I said.. with build 9 and original 1.10b4 I get a 5GHz signal of high 30's to high 60's signal strength (D-Link software) and a stable signal for my HDTV.. and gaming. No noticeable glitches as I can tell...

It might take until Sunday for me to play with this..

First a direct line of sight at about 12' and even move it closer... to include side by side (a few inches). My CATV has a ubee router in bridge mode, then my 5500. I don't have a way to remove that one..it's in bridge mode but there is still a low 2.4GHz signal per inSSIDer. My other (telephone) router has wireless off. I can disconnect that one during testing. There are no other 5GHz signals in or around my home. I'm single.. the only other wireless during this is a cell phone.. connected 5GHz. I can limit other connection when testing, no AP's. 

I have 'inSSIDer' installed on my android cell phone. Possibly this also helps.. I did it 4 times  to see if the dBm readings were similar each time, they are. Next to the router: -45dBm, At the other side of the wall from the router:  -49dBm, mid hallway (not very long) -62dBm and next to the USB receiver (that's on top of a table): -69dBm. (1.10B09)

I read and have thought about router distance from the other stuff.. mine is on the other end of the table, but the cat cable(35") and power cord supplied are not long enough to move it far... I wonder why they don't include longer ones?

One test you can do since you are the only person in your household and if you get some time, Turn OFF the ISP modem fully. Connect one PC to the 5500 and another via WiFi and test this scenario isolated. I run this scenario on various builds to gauge what the router and client devices can can do with a wired LAN file server as a test point. I have sample files ranging from 800Mb to 4Gb in size. I only use 2 files at the moment. I usually start with one radio OFF and the other ON. Then reverse radios and test, then test with them on all using default settings then I'll go with Single mode N on 2.4Ghz with WPA2/AES only and Mixed all modes on 5Ghz with WPA2/AES only. Sometimes I do test mixed security as a additional test since results should be similar for my devices I use however I mainly run my devices on N or AC modes so most of my testing is usually single mode for me. You'll need to figure out what you need for you. I have the files on both the client and file server PC. I do Read from and Write to tests back and forth on the test client. This is a suggested test if you can do it.

Please test your 5500 with out the AC1200s going and see what your results are and with the ISP modem OFF. If there is some signal still coming from the ISP device, I don't think it should effect much however it's still out there and could a cause of interferences and un-necessary noise on the frequency. Thus the reason for testing with it OFF and isolated for some test scenarios. Also helps in finding any other issues along the way.

What current FW is loaded on the AC1200s? I presume these are D-Link units?

Ok I've asked D-Link if APs and Bridges should be updated as far as FW goes. This also is another variable that could impact operation between those and the 5500. I'll post info when they reply.
