I'm trying to play an HD video (MKV format) from a share hosted by DNS-325 on a Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) system, and it is really choppy. The Windows system has the following characteristics: AMD E-350 CPU, 4 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics. I have a wired network, so network speed should not be an issue. I tried VLC, Pot Player, and SMPlayer, and all struggle playing the video.
The very same video plays fine from a local drive, so I suspect the issue to be related to DNS-325. Although, it seems to work fine, when I try to play it on my laptop connected to the same CAT5e network drop (i7, 8 GB RAM, Intel HD video, Windows 8 (x64)). So I am really puzzled. Notice that I'm not streaming video, just using DNS-325 as a network share.
Does anyone have an idea what could've caused this problem? Thanks.
