Check the phone lines first. Ensure cables and lines are in good working order. Swap out. Phone line should be a 4 wire cable, not 2. Ensure the DSL line is correctly filtered. If your modem is old, Ask for a newer one or go buy your own and avoid modem rental fees.  ::)
