Author Topic: If I am using Multiple routers as a WAP, do I use the same channel or separate?  (Read 4904 times)

I have 2 DIR 655s set up with the same SSID and WAP key. Cell phones and laptops will choose whichever closest when first connecting.

When I set their channels to AUTO, they go to completely separate channels. Right now I set the channels manually to be the same (channel 11). Would it be better to set them to AUTO to go to separate channels, or leave them on the same channel? They are on the same network and computers on both access points can talk to each other.

It's best to set both 655s and the main host router to manual channel, if they are clear...1, 6 and 11 are preferred channels.

But should I set them to the SAME channel? Here is what the wifi in my area looks like (You Shall Not Pass! is mine)

no, each AP can not be in the same channel, it will not work. IT will cause interferences and problems.
