Hexworkshop is a great hex editor.  http://www.hexworkshop.com/  I have a working copy from years ago.  Not sure if you can download an older version for free or not, but I highly recommend this program.

I sincerely hope D-Link takes these issues seriously.  I came across this exact same problem with DIR-615 Rev.C 3.11NA.  I had no issues using the PAP2T (with no configuration changes) using an old router I had lying around.  But there is a reason we upgraded.  We purchased new Wireless N laptops and wanted to take advantage of that and also needed the Access Controls (block sites) that this router has.  In any case, I will be reverting the firmware to 3.01 using the technique mentioned here.  Thanks for providing that info.  Please D-Link, do not leave us hanging ...provide a 3.12 update that addresses this DIR-615 issue.

I too am trying to downgrade 3.11 to 3.01 because my voip phone won't work behind this router. It looks like some sort of NATing issue.

I'm using a free version of Hex Edit 3.0 to attempt to edit the bin file as Garritt suggested, but I don't see the text string AP81 nor the 41 50 38 31 hex string that Garrit says needs to be modified in my 301 bin file. I do see 00AP81 in the 311 file, but I see nothing like that in the 301 file that I just downloaded.

Can anyone help me?  Can anyone email me a edited version of the 301 bin file?

I'm about ready to throw this DIR-615 in the trash.  It's been nothing but unreliable for the 12 months I've been using it.

Thanks for the help.
Andy

Great news.  On Mar. 8, 2010 they released firmware update 3.12NA for the DIR-615.  It resolves the following issues
¤ Fixed: “User” access issue.
¤ Fixed: Wireless connection issue.
¤ Fixed: DHCP reservation issue.
¤ Fixed: Static IP issue

I just loaded the new firmware and now my IP phone works behind this router!!

Time will tell if it resolves the wireless connection and DHCP reservation issues that so many complain about.

I've had many VOIP problems after upgrading firmware to 3.10, so I downgraded back to 3.01.

However, once I did that, I can no-longer change the firmware to anything else!!!

I'm trying to change to DD-WRT or to D-Link 3.12 but any firmware I try to load I get a message that "The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted." ???

Any suggestions?
